What a fun story！The Outer Banks was our family vacation spot for many years so I picked this book for the location。 I kept reading for the story！ I enjoyed the mystery of the characters’ intertwined lives and the bit of romance as well。

Live the story and live the characters！Main takeaway is that it’s very hard to live with lies and lies tend to grow and hurt more people than they should。 Edna， Ruth and Ivy are all deep characters with untold stories that have carried on for a couple of generations。 Twisted lives lead to runaways and infants and long searches for truth。

Good Hallmark Movie storyTHE BRIGHTER THE LIGHT is an interesting， if somewhat predictable， story。 I was relating the story briefly to someone and they came up with the title: Hallmark Movie。

Absolutely loved it。 This book was a winner for me！ NC gal here so always a sucker for a coastal Carolina setting。 I loved the dual story line and all the characters。 Highly recommend this one。

Ivy returns to her grandmother Ruth’s cottage， planning on cleaning it up and selling。 Her return to the shore stirs things up with old friends， forcing them to confront feelings hurt by her move to New York twelve years before。 Then a storm uncovers a old wreck， not seen since Ruth was a child， said to be a harbinger of rough times and change。 Wonderful the way the story weaves between Ruth’s tale in 1950 and Ivy’s in 1922。 Weeks worth the time to read。

I liked the two story lines， the characters， and the setting。 And the dialogue was fairly realistic。 But the family relationships were WAY too confusing - the family tree at the end emphasized this rather than clarified it。 Distracting/entertaining enough， but not a must-read。
